Through her time stewarding psychedelic peer support through MAPS and the Zendo Project over the last decade, Sara has witnessed the psychedelic experiences of thousands of individuals in community settings: festivals, events, and gatherings of all sizes. This experience has provided her insight into how psychedelics are being explored “in the wild”- outside of clinical, research, or traditional ceremonial & religious contexts - and what we can learn from psychedelic use in these social settings. Sara will explore how, from a foundation of harm/risk reduction, we can access deeper levels of community healing. We will examine the hopes and challenges of community psychedelic use. We will explore the importance of tempering the current psychedelic hype with a balanced perspective that honors and recognizes the powerful effects of psychedelics on the mind, body, and spirit and the need to bring intentionality to the psychedelic experience in whatever setting we may find ourselves in.
